EBRPL Events

The 5th Annual Community History Festival – Down Home and Homegrown will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library. The whole family will enjoy a day of fun, food, games, entertainment, and educational activities. Special honors this year will be given to our own past and present “homegrown heroes,” who served in the military, firefighters, law enforcement and those who have supported and contributed to the community. A flag ceremony by members of the Northeast High School Junior ROTC will start off the event. Activities will include a horse training demonstration by the LSU AgCenter’s Equine Extension as well as live horseshoeing, a roping demonstration, and viewing of other farm animals.

Also participating in the festival are:
• The Baton Rouge Herb Society
• Food historian Cynthia Nobles – author of The Delta Queen Cookbook
• The Red Stick Smocking Guild
• The Chaneyville Community Center Quilters
• The Louisiana Woodcarvers Guild
• and various artists and craftsmen.

Children’s activities will include games, crafts, and a puppet show. Participants will sample omelettes made by the Louisiana Egg Commission and jambalaya provided through the Community History Committee. Local vendors will offer handmade, homemade and homegrown products. The Louisiana Lagniappe Dulcimers and the Louisiana Gospel Fellowship Group will provide music for the event. The ever-popular old-fashioned Cake Walk will be held every hour.
The Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library Library is located at 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road, in Pride, LA. For more information about this event, call 225-658-1540.
