We have a fascinating digital collection to share with you, The Louisiana Purchase: A Heritage Explored. This collection, hosted by LSU Libraries, features primary sources and early printed materials about the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, and surrounding time period. Items that can be viewed in the collection include pamphlets, travel accounts, maps and books. It is amazing to see hand-written letters over 200 years old.
You can search the collection by keyword or simply browse. When viewing a document you can zoom in to really see the details. There is an excellent teachers’ guide for using this resource in the classroom. This site is a must for history buffs and students.
